Rebel Track Opens 2007 At Arkansas Invitational

Three Ole Miss athletes earned NCAA qualifying marks led by junior All-American John Yarbrough who won the 60-meter hurdles with an NCAA qualifying time of 7.83.
“We have a very solid meet,” said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. “We did a good job of coming back from the holiday and competing hard. We had success in several different events. I think that shows the overall strength of our team.”
Also earning NCAA qualifying marks on the day were junior Kenyata Coleman who turned in a qualifying time of 54.06 to finish third in the 400 meters. Coleman also won the women’s 200 meters in a time of 24.08, which fell just short of the qualifying standard.
Sophomore Rodney Lockhart finished second in the men’s 400 meters in a time of 47.22, which is a NCAA qualifying mark. Lockhart also finished fourth in the 200 meters in a time of 2. SEC cross country champion Barnabas Kirui finished third in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:11.96, just short of the NCAA qualifying standard.
In the men’s throws, James Maloney won the weight throw with a mark of 57-5.50 and Derek McGuire finished runner-up in the shot put with a mark of 53-10.25.
On the women’s side junior Carmia Carroll turned in solid performances in the high jump and triple jump. Carroll finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 5-5.00 and sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 38-10.50.
