OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss athletics department is strengthening the personal support for its student-athletes by announcing the addition of Jennifer Zimmerman as a CHAMPS Life Skills Coordinator.

She will focus on developing and implementing programs that will assist with the personal and career development of student-athletes. With more than 10 years of experience in the field of college career services, Zimmerman joins the athletics department after two years of service to the Ole Miss Career Center as the Assistant Director of Career Development.

While completing her doctorate in higher education administration, Zimmerman’s dissertation research is focused on the career development of Division 1A student-athletes.

“I feel Jennifer is a welcomed addition to the Ole Miss athletics family,” said Derek Horne, Associate Athletics Director for External Operations. “Her enthusiasm and background will assist her in making a positive impact on our student-athletes, staff and department.”

CHAMPS (CHallenging Athletics Minds for Personal Success) is a program sponsored by the NCAA and the Division 1A Athletics Directors’ Association that was created to support the student-athlete development initiatives of NCAA member institutions and to enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience within the context of higher education.
