Ole Miss Cross Country Teams Finish Competition At Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. In the final race before SEC Championships, the Ole Miss cross country teams each finished in 38th place Saturday afternoon at Pre-Nationals hosted by Indiana State University.

 

On the women’s side, Stanford won the team title with a total of 102 points.  Florida State earned a second place finish with 123 total points, while Michigan State took third with its total of 178 points.  Minnesota finished four with 192 points before Georgetown rounded out the top five finishing teams with a total of 210 points. 

 

Pacing Ole Miss for the fourth consecutive meet, Lady Rebel senior Samantha Mazer earned a 211th place finish with a time of 23:05.  Freshman Julie Little was second on the team and 243rd overall with her time of 24:15.  Sophomore Anna Adams came in third on the team and 250th overall with a time of 25:21.

 

Junior Lindsey Doucett earned a fourth place finish for Ole Miss and a 253rd place showing with a time of 25:58.  Fellow junior Kirby Patterson took fifth place for the Lady Rebels and 256th overall with a time of 26:37. 

 

Northern Arizona won the men’s team event with 124 points, while Iona took second place with a total of 136 points.  California laid claim to third place with 157 points, while Virginia finished fourth with 203 points before Alabama took fifth with 207 points. 

 

Sophomore Gabriel Ngwiri was the top Rebel finisher as he recorded a 217th place finish with a time of 25:54.  Freshman Jephtah Kenei took second for Ole Miss and 238th overall with his time of 26:27.  Taking third for the Rebels, sophomore Chad Berry finished with a time of 27:11 for a 249th place finish. 

 

Freshman Ty Gillespie raced to a fourth place Ole Miss finish and a 257th place overall finish with a time of 28:08.  Junior Seth Conerly finished next in line in 258th place with his time of 28:14.

 

The Ole Miss cross country teams return to action Oct. 27 when the teams travel to Lexington, Ky., to take part in the SEC Championships.
