Ole Miss Leads Rain-Delayed Squire Creek Invitational

10/15/2007 | Men's Golf

RUSTON, La. The Ole Miss men’s golf team fired a 6-under 282 in the first round of the Squire Creek Invitational to lead the field.  The second round was suspended after four holes due to heavy rain.

Ole Miss leads Jacksonville State (284) by two, while fellow conference foe LSU is third at 290.

The Rebels were paced by seniors David Marino and Kyle Ellis.  Marino shot35-3368, and is leading three players by one, including his teammate Ellis.  Ellis was even through the first nine, but finished 3-under for a 69.

Freshman Jonathan Randolph carded a 72 and junior Jesse Speirs posted a 73 to round out the Rebel scoring.

The plan is to tee off at 8 a.m. and complete the second round and then also finish the final round weather permitting.

The Rebels are trying to win consecutive tournament titles, after capturing the Memphis Intercollegiate last week.
