OXFORD, Miss. Following a pair of wins over Auburn and Georgia in the final weekend of play, junior setter Rachel Kieckhaefer has been named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Kieckhaefer turned in a solid performance no the weekend, finishing a kill shy of a triple-double against Auburn and two digs shy of a triple-double against the Bulldogs. The setter hit .486 for the week as she tallied 19 kills on 37 attacks with only one error. She averaged 3.17 kills and 3.33 digs on the week in leading the Rebels to the win.

The Hartford, Wisc., native was crucial to the Rebels posting both sweeps on the weekend as she came up with the kill to move Ole Miss to match-point in a 31-29 game three win over Auburn. She also put down back-to-back kills against Georgia to move the Rebels back in front of the Bulldogs 21-20 in game three and notched her 10th kill to give Ole Miss the lead for good at 25-24 in the 30-26 game three win over Georgia.

Kieckhaefer and the Rebels have turned in arguably the best season in school history as Ole Miss set the school record for SEC wins at 14-6 in league play while also securing the program’s first-ever winning conference season. The Rebels also posted 25 wins, the most for the Rebels since the 1989 season when Ole Miss went 30-12 on the year.

The Rebels will now have a week off for Thanksgiving before learning their NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday, November 25, with the announcement of the field of 64. The announcement will be made live on ESPNU at 7 p.m. CST.
