Lady Rebels Host DT-3 In Exhibition Sunday Night

11/3/2007 | Women's Basketball

OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss women’s basketball team is set to compete in its first live game action of the preseason when the Lady Rebels host DT-3 in an exhibition game Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Tad Smith Coliseum.

Ole Miss returns two starters and nine additional letterwinners from a 2006-07 team that advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.  Along the way, Ole Miss knocked off TCU in the opening round, defending NCAA champion Maryland in the second round and Big 12 champion Oklahoma in the Sweet 16 to reach the Elite Eight for the fifth time in school history.  In addition, the Rebels ended the season ranked 10th in the final USA Toady/ESPN Coaches Poll.

Sunday night will also be the first opportunity Ole Miss fans will have to see first-year head coach Renee Ladner in action.  Ladner, who served as an assistant coach at Ole Miss since 2003, became the sixth head coach in school history following the resignation of former head coach Carol Ross in late April.

Instead of paying money for a ticket to the exhibition game, all fans are asked to bring canned goods or monetary donations for the Oxford Food Pantry in order to enter the gates at Tad Smith Coliseum.
