Rebel Golfer Earns Top-10 Finish At Carter Plantation

SPRINGFIELD, La. Ole Miss sophomore men’s golfer Will Roebuck fired a 71-76-71218 to finished tied for 10th at the Carter Plantation Tuesday.  The Rebels finished sixth in the team standings with a 295-302-290887.

 

Roebuck earned his sixth top-10 finish of the year and eighth of his career.   Senior Callum Macaulay rebounded nicely after a first round 78, to shoot 70-72 for a total of 220 to tie for 14th.  It marked his ninth top-20 finish of his career.

 

Senior Chris Rogers tied for 30th with a 225, junior David Marino finished 56th with a 232, and senior Brice Bailey tied for 66th with a 238 to round out the Rebel scoring.

 

“This was a week of disappointing play and missed opportunities,” head coach Ernest Ross said.   “We put up too many big numbers on holes.  We are unsatisfied with our finish.  We don’t have time to hang our heads, because we leave again Friday for another tournament.”

 

Host Southeastern Louisiana won the tournament with an 862.  Middle Tennessee carded an 868 to finish second, and South Alabama posted an 879 for third place.   James Taverner of SELA shot a final round 67 to hold off USA’s Daniel Burns for medalist honors.

 

The Rebels will be back in action March 18-20 at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C.
