Rebel Golfers In Second At Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. The Ole Miss men’s golf team fired a 294 in the first round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate (sponsored by Gatorade) Sunday, and stands in second place, one behind SMU at Pinehurst No. 8.

 

Sophomore Will Roebuck fired a one-over par 73, including three birdies, and is tied for eighth with teammate Chris Rogers, who also carded a 73.  

 

Senior Callum Macaulay shot a 74 and is tied for 17th with junior David Marino, who posted a 74 as well. Marino was plus four heading into the par-5 17th, and then promptly eagled the hole to finish strong.

 

Indiana and UNC-Greensboro are three back of Ole Miss and tied for third place.  Michigan posted a 298 and is in fifth.  Michigan’s Bill Rankin turned in a 2-under 70 to lead the individual field.

 

The second round begins Monday at 8 a.m.
