OXFORD, Miss. -- Just over a hundred Ole Miss students were honored at the 60th Annual Honors Day Convocation last Thursday, and among those distinguished to walk across the Ford Center stage were three Rebel student-athletes.

Ole Miss senior soccer player Ashley Ferree of Cordova, Tenn., was one of 40 students to receive the Taylor Medal, the university's highest academic honor. The number awarded annually may not be more than one percent of the student body.

Established in 1904, the Marcus Elvis Taylor Memorial medals are awarded for outstanding scholarship in a particular field combined with superior work in all other subjects. Ferree was chosen for her outstanding effort in the School of Applied Sciences.

Nicole Mahan, a sophomore volleyball player, earned the Outstanding Art History Student Award. The Amarillo, Texas native boasts a 3.8 GPA and was named to the ESPN: The Magazine Academic All-District second team and the SEC Academic Honor Roll in the fall.

Garnering the Eta Sigma Phi Prize in Latin was junior tennis player Bram ten Berge. Hailing from the Netherlands, ten Berge maintains a 3.95 GPA and was the 2006 SEC Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete.
