OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss juniors Erling Tveit with men's tennis and Casey Phillips with rifle were announced today as ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honorees.

Both were named to the District VI At-Large second team, which is comprised of 11 men and nine women from the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico and included 12 different sports. The teams are determined by vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

An All-American and three-time All-SEC honoree, Tveit recorded a 4.0 this semester in Business, while maintaining his status as one of the top players in the nation. The Norwegian is ranked No. 13 in the country and led the Rebels to their sixth consecutive SEC Western Division title and the NCAA "Sweet Sixteen."

An ITA Scholar-Athlete in 2006, Tveit is currently competing in the NCAA Individual Championships in Athens, Ga., seeking a repeat of his run to the semifinals in singles last year.

A journalism major, Phillips also received All-Academic Student-Athlete honors from the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association for the second straight year and was honored as the Ole Miss Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2006 by the Great America Rifle Conference. The three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll holds a prefect 4.0 GPA.

Phillips, a Clanton, Ala. native and team co-captain, posted a season average of 567.1 in the air rifle and 545.8 in the smallbore in 2006-07. She helped lead the team to its first NCAA Championships appearance in school history, when the Rebels placed seventh in 2006.
