HOOVER, Ala. After an offday on Friday, Ole Miss is set to for an SEC Tournament semifinal encounter Saturday with top-ranked Vanderbilt, who overpowered Tennessee Friday 15-2 to avoid elimination. The game started at 1:35 p.m. CT at Regions Park and is televised by FSN.
A win would send the Rebels to their third straight SEC final Sunday at 3 p.m., while the Commodores need a victory in the early game to force a rematch later in the day at 5 p.m.
Fifth-seeded and 19th-ranked Ole Miss (37-21) has cruised through the tourney with a 3-1 win over Mississippi State Wednesday and a 6-3 triumph over Tennessee Thursday.
No.1 seed Vanderbilt (48-11) was upended by the Volunteers 6-4 on day one in Hoover but rebounded to beat State 4-2 Thursday and avenge the UT upset with Friday’s blowout.
The Dores took the regular-season series from the Rebels 2-1 in Nashville, although both VU victories were by a single run.
