Ole Miss Golfer Kyle Ellis Concludes Play At Sunnehanna Amateur

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. Ole Miss men’s golfer Kyle Ellis posted a 77 in the final round of the 54th annual Sunnehanna Amateur Tournament for Champions Sunday, and finished tied for 21st with a 72-66-72-77287 at the Sunnehanna Country Club.

 

Ellis carded six bogeys and a double-bogey on the final hole to just one birdie.  His second round 66 tied for the second lowest round of the tournament.

 

The 2006 Mississippi Amateur Champion battled 71 of the nation’s top amateur golfers this weekend.  Rickie Fowler (Murietta, Calif.) held off Peter Uihlein by one stroke to take medalist honors.

 The Sunnehanna Amateur was established in 1954 and boasts an impressive list of past champions, including PGA Tour veterans Lucas Glover, Allen Doyle, Billy Andrade, Scott Verplank, Brad Faxon, John Cook and Ben Crenshaw.
