Postgame Quotes: Ole Miss vs. Southern Miss

OLE MISS

HEAD COACH MIKE BIANCO

Opening Comment
"Obviously tonight was all about Lance Lynn. Earlier in the game he didn't have his command, but he really competedand in the middle innings. He really found his game. He was spectacular and, as I joked with the team after the game, we left a small village on base tonight, so Lance had to pitch well. He did that. When you're not hitting the ball well you have to have solid pitching, and we had that tonight."

On being one win away from winning the tournament
"This was a big game. It's not over and we have to come to play tomorrow. We need to win one more and are in great shape pitching wise. This is the situation you want to be in, but we realize their is work ahead."

LANCE LYNN, SO., PITCHER

On his performance
"I felt pretty well out there tonight. I had a lot of energy before the game and after the first few innings, I started to find my groove. In the early innings I was frustrated, so I had to regroup and let my stuff work for me. I was able to get after hitters and it worked out."

On taking the mound in the ninth inning for the complete game
"I felt great taking the mound in the ninth inning. Through the course of the game I was able to work my curveball better, which helped me challenge hitters. It paid off for me, which helped me finish the game."

JORDAN HENRY, FR., RIGHTFIELDER

On Lance Lynn
"Early on I was just trying to get on, get some runs early and let Lance do the rest. We got a couple of runs and let Lance dominate the rest of the game."

LOGAN POWER, SO., CENTERFIELDER

On the team's position in the tournament
"It's a really good feeling to be in this situation. We understand what has to be done the next few days to come out on top in the tournament. We have to stay focused and come ready to play these next couple of games."

CATCHER ALEX KLIMAN:

On Lynn's performance
"Once Lance finds his groove and has hitters chasing his fastball, he's hard to hit. He dominated out there tonight and had a great game."

SOUTHERN MISS

HEAD COACH CORKY PALMER

Opening Comment
"It was a tough night. (Lance) Lynn was really good tonight. We had a good game plan. We took a lot of pitches early and we were in a groove until about the fourth. We had that shot with the bases loaded and didn't get in anything. Rarely you would say, I thought we pitched really good,' and you look up at the scoreboard. The game could have really been out of hand if Barry (Bowden) didn't make some pitches or if (Tyler) Conn hadn't made some pitches, because we got outhit 11-2."

On the Henry brothers
"Whatever they do offensively, they stay with their gameplan. Mentally, they have it down. I don't even remember the game except for those two guys. I am very impressed with them. They do whatever it takes to help their team. They take all the power out of their swing. They just do what they are supposed to do to help their team. They were the difference. We had a hard time pitching to both guys."

MICHAEL EWING, SO., OUTFIELDER

On Lance Lynn
"He challenged us all night with his fastball, and we just didn't make any adjustment to it. He kept throwing high ones by us all night. We would have the bases loaded and full count pitch, we just kept chasing it and chasing it all night. He had good velocity, and when he started spotting up his breaking ball, that didn't help because it just made his fastballs that much faster. He pitched well, and we just didn't make any adjustments."

On Lynn throwing balls early
"It made us a little too patient because he was throwing so many balls early on, we didn't want to give him anything. Then he started pumping strikes that were highly effective against us."

BARRY BOWDEN, JR., PITCHER

On how he felt during the night
"Tonight just wasn't one of my nights. I couldn't find it early. I was falling behind on hitters, and you can't do that to a good team like Ole Miss."

On Jordan Henry
"He's a great hitter. He has a great eye, and he doesn't try to do too much. He just slaps the ball around."
