Four Rebels Help Lead HiToms To Second Straight Title

HIGH POINT/THOMASVILLE, N.C. The HiToms of the Coastal Plain League recently won their second consecutive CPL Petitt Cup Championship. Ole Miss’ Zach Miller,
A member of the 2006 championship team and coming into his second season with the HiToms, infielder Zach Miller was determined to get another championship. Starting two games at second base in the tournament, Miller went 3-for-8 with two runs scored and one RBI. During the regular season, he hit .267 with 18 runs scored in 29 games. Pitchers Wade Broyles and
Broyles went a perfect 6-0 during the regular season while sporting a microscopic 0.24 ERA. He allowed only one earned run in 37.2 innings while striking out 57. Opponents were hitting only .135 against him. In the tournament, Broyles appeared in two games while giving up two runs in 3.2 innings. He struck out six batters.
Broyles was named to the CPL All-Star Team in early July.
Just as impressive, Cryer had a 0.75 ERA in 14 appearances and 24 innings during the season. He struck out 31 batters and recorded one save for the HiToms. Opponents were hitting only .105 against him.
Kevin Parker did it all for the HiToms, coming out of the bullpen and starting. In 11 appearances, Parker threw 23.1 innings. The left-hander went 0-3 on the season, but had an impressive 3.85 ERA. He struck out 15 batters.
The Rebels will report back to campus this weekend as Ole Miss starts school next week. Ole Miss will open its season on February 22, 2008.
