Lady Rebels Suffer Road Loss At No. 7 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Sylvia Fowles scored 19 of her 22 points in the first half to help No. 7 LSU beat Ole Miss 78-48 on Sunday afternoon from the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Shawn Goff and Elizabeth Robertson each had 11 points for Ole Miss (10-14, 4-7 SEC), which struggled to handle LSU's inside presence.
Fowles gave Ole Miss fits on the interior, almost collecting a double-double at the half with 19 points and eight rebounds. Allison Hightower added 13 points.
LSU entered the game ranked No. 2 in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 50.3 points per game. They built a 19-8 lead in the first seven minutes and it ballooned to as many as 20 points in the first half.
LSU took a 44-29 advantage at halftime.
Ole Miss never found a consistent offensive attack, shooting just 32 percent from the floor.
With the win, LSU (22-3, 11-0) remained in first place in the Southeastern Conference standings ahead of No. 1 Tennessee.
Ole Miss returns to action Thursday at 8 p.m. when the Lady Rebels host
