Shannon Singletary Named President of SEC Sports Medicine

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss’ Shannon Singletary was recently elected by the athletic trainers and team physicians of the Southeastern Conference to serve as President of SEC Sports Medicine.

 

Singletary, who is in his second year as Ole Miss’ Senior Associate A.D. of Sports Medicine and Strength and Conditioning, will represent the SEC sports medicine professionals to the associate commissioner and athletic directors of the conference on issues relating to health care for their student-athletes.

He will also work with league members in coordinating conferences and learning opportunities for athletic trainers and take part in committees to organize physical exams for SEC football officials.

 

A 1995 Ole Miss graduate, Singletary, DPT, ATC, CSCS, first joined the athletics department staff as Associate A.D. of Sports Medicine on March 15, 2004 before being promoted to his current position, where he oversees the day-to-day operations of the sports medicine program and supervision of all athletic trainers and strength coaches.

 

The Kosciusko, Miss., native is a past treasurer and board member of the Mississippi Physical Therapy Association, and has conducted numerous professional presentations as well as being published in the Journal of Hand Therapy on two occasions.
