Reese Moves One Step Closer To Olympics

EUGENE, Ore. Ole Miss junior Brittney Reese moved one step closer to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games with a second place finish in the prelims of the long jump at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Monday.
Reese turned in a mark of 21-08.75 to advance Thursday's finals. Hyleas Fountain took first in the preliminaries with a jump of 21-10.25. Reese owns the longest jump in the world this year with a mark of 22-09.00. The top three finishers in the long jump will represent the U.S. in the Olympics.
Lady Rebel All-America Kenyata Coleman saw her Olympic dreams come to an end on Monday, as she posted a time of 53.97 to finish eighth in her heat of the semifinals of the women's 400 meters. Coleman, the SEC outdoor 400 meters champion, set a school record with a time of 51.67 at the NCAA Championships earlier this season.
