Former Rebel Golfer Featured On CBS Special

7/28/2008 | Men's Golf

OXFORD, Miss. Former Ole Miss golfer Chip Sullivan was among seven PGA Club Professionals featured on the CBS special “The Road to the PGA Championship,” which debuted Sunday, July 27, on CBS.   The program will be seen in five separate rebroadcasts, beginning July 30, on the Golf Channel.

This one-hour special, marking its third consecutive year, is hosted by CBS Sports announcer Bill Macatee, and will feature the PGA Professional National Championship, the quest for a top-20 finish and a berth in the 90th PGA Championship.

Sullivan won the 2007 PGA Club Professional National Championship and helped the United States reclaim the PGA Cup later that year.  This summer he became the first reigning PGA Professional National Champion to compete in the Japan PGA Championship, where he tied for 18th.  Sullivan has also competed in several PGA Tour events this season.

Since turning professional in 1987, Sullivan has won more than 80 PGA-sanctioned events.

As a standout for the Rebels, Sullivan’s accomplishments included winning the 1986 SEC individual title, beating among others in the field, 2001 PGA Championship winner David Toms.   Sullivan earned All-SEC first team honors in 1986, and was a member of the 1984 SEC Champion Team.
