8/24/2008 | Baseball

OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss baseball team was the latest team to arrive on campus ready to prepare for the upcoming school year as the players reported and went through initial orientations and team meetings over the weekend.

Members of the team went through a brief orientation meeting Saturday before going through a full day of meetings on Sunday as the players met with strength and conditioning, training and academic staff members in preparation for starting classes on Monday.

"We're excited to get the team back on campus and start working toward another successful season," said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. "It's a great time of year as the players come back and start to get acclimated to being in school again. We're ready to get back out on the field and get to work."

The players will begin workouts on Monday and continue with practices and scrimmages throughout the fall before opening the season in February.

Ole Miss advanced to an NCAA Regional for the sixth straight season in 2008, falling to top-ranked and national top seed Miami in the championship game of the Coral Gables Regional. Ole Miss is one of only six teams in the nation to have advanced to an NCAA Regional Championship game each of the last four seasons.
