Food Drive Continues Thursday Around Oxford
9/24/2008 | Athletics
As part of the SEC "Together We Can" food drive program, Rebel student-athletes will be collecting canned goods between 4 and 7 p.m. CT at Wal-Mart, Kroger and Larson's Big Star.
In addition, a three-can donation will earn admission to Ole Miss' soccer and volleyball matches this weekend on campus. The Rebel volleyball squad competes against South Carolina Friday at 5 p.m. and Florida Sunday at 1:30, while the soccer team faces Arkansas Friday at 6 p.m. and LSU Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Oxford Food Pantry is suggesting canned fruit, meats (tuna, salmon) and spaghetti. However, all canned foods will be accepted.
Last year, SEC-member schools collected approximately 40,000 pounds of donated food items through "Together We Can". Ole Miss individually collected around 4,500 pounds, but has a new goal of 8,000 pounds for this year's food drive.
