1/18/2009 | Men's Tennis

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Freshman Devin Britton of the No. 9 nationally ranked Ole Miss men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals at the SEC Indoor Championships Sunday with a quarterfinal win. He will play at 9 a.m. Monday at the Boone Tennis Center.

Britton, playing in his first tournament for the Rebels against the nation's best, followed up Saturday's huge comeback win against Georgia's top player with a straight set win over Tennessee's Davey Sandgren, 6-4, 6-4. He will play Volunteer J.P. Smith, who beat Rebel senior Jonas Berg 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in another quarterfinal match.

Senior Bram ten Berge, seeded No. 9, lost in three sets to Florida newcomer, Carlos Cueto, seeded No. 8, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The SEC is regarded as the top conference in the country in men's tennis with four teams ranked in the top 10 in the preseason national rankings.

The Rebels will be vying to reach the finals at the SEC Indoor for the second year in a row in either singles or doubles. Last year, Ole Miss had two doubles teams make the final. Check back at
