Kirui Takes Third At Greater Louisville XC Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Ole Miss junior Barnabas Kirui turned in a third place finish with a time of 23:52.42 in the 8k race Saturday morning at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic to highlight competition for the Rebel men's team.

Senior Gabriel Ngwiri finished second for the Rebels and 58th overall after racing to a time of 25:18.99. Freshman Riley Young finished third on the team with a time of 26:35.12.

Senior Chad Berry posted a time of 28:22.70 and was fourth for Ole Miss, while junior Alejandro Quintana earned a time of 28:40.25 to take fifth for the Rebels. Freshman Jack Hammond finished with a time of 29:43.95.

Newcomer Erik Solberg rounded out the Rebel runners with his time of 30:21.19.

Sophomore Logan Waites paced the women's team with a 24th place finish in the 5k race with her time of 18:09.44.

Junior Julie Little took second place for Ole Miss after she finished with a time of 19:17.22. Freshman Anne Threlkeld finished just seconds behind Little and posted a time of 19:23.36 to take third for the Rebels.

Allison Kneip turned in a time of 19:32.66, while senior Anna Adams earned a time of 20:37.48. Sophomore Ella Gentry finished with a time of 21:41.22, and fellow sophomore Jamie McCulloch collected a time of 22:15.85 to wrap up competition for the women's team.

Ole Miss returns to action Saturday when the Rebels travel to Birmingham, Ala., to take part in the Samford Dual Meet.
