TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Ole Miss junior Barnabas Kirui qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships by posting a second place finish with a 10k time of 29:44.48 Saturday morning at the NCAA South Regional from the Harry Pritchard Running Course.

It marks the second time in his career that Kirui has earned an invitation to the NCAA Cross Country Championships and now becomes the first athlete in school history to compete in the event on two different occasions. He participated in the race in 2006 after winning the SEC Championships and turning in one of the greatest freshman seasons in school history.

Senior Gabriel Ngwiri posted a second place team finish and was 52nd overall with a time of 32:20.87 in his final race as a Rebel. Freshman Riley Young was the third place finisher for Ole Miss after finishing with a time of 35:46.49.

Not far behind, senior Jordan Michael was next for Ole Miss and posted a time of 36:10.55, while junior Alejandro Quintana took fifth on the team with his mark of 36:17.42. Jack Hammond and Erik Solberg rounded out the Rebel runners as the duo finished with times of 38:14.75 and 38:31.73, respectively.

Sophomore Logan Waites paced the women's team with a 66th place finish following her 6k time of 22:16.05. Freshman and Oxford native Anne Threlkeld was second on the team after turning in a time of 23:31.01, while senior Anna Adams capped her Rebel career with a time of 24:20.95 in her final race.

Junior Allison Kneip was fourth on the team and collected a finishing time of 24:44.90, and sophomores Ella Gentry and Jamie McCulloch finished in fifth and sixth for the team, respectively. Gentry posted a time of 26:44.82 and McCulloch finished in 26:56.12.

Kirui will look to become the first NCAA Cross Country champion in school history when he competes Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
