3/4/2009 | Men's Golf

OXFORD, Miss. The 25th-ranked Ole Miss men’s golf team returns to the Sunshine State this weekend for the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State at the Golden Eagle Country Club.

The field of 12 includes SEC schools, Arkansas, Auburn, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.

Ole Miss will be going for its fifth consecutive top-five finish when they hit the links Friday in Tallahassee, Fla.  In their action, the Rebels tied for fourth at the Rio Pinar Invitational.

The Rebels will send freshmen Joe David and Sean Dale, sophomore Jonathan Randolph and seniors Stefan Strandlund and Jesse Speirs to the Seminole Intercollegiate.  David was the top finisher for the Rebels’ at the Rio Pinar Invitational, as he tied for sixth with a season-best final round 68.

“This is our third tournament in three weeks, so we should be mentally sharp,” head coach Ernest Ross said.  “The course has some special tricks and is a great strategy’ layout.  It is one of my favorite courses we play all year.  I believe our players will be ready.”

The 54-hole tournament will consist of 18 holes each day.  Live scoring will be available by going to www.OleMissSports.com and clicking on the live scoring link in the calendar box.
