Crouse comes to the Rebels from
“Matt is a guy we expect to come in here and compete for a spot immediately and help our already strong pitching staff,” said Ole Miss recruiting coordinator and assistant coach Rob Reinstetle. “He throws his fastball in the upper 80s and has a good breaking ball and great change-up. He is very projectable with his body size and we think that he will only throw harder with time.”
This season, Crouse has posted a 6-1 record with a 3.59 ERA as he has struck out 58 batters and walked 29. He has allowed only 19 earned runs on 42 hits while helping Young Harris to a 38-10 record.
Crouse, a 6-5, 185-pound pitcher, is no stranger to success as he was named an All-Metro Second team selection by the Washington Post in 2008 and was a First Team selection in 2007. As a junior, Crouse posted a 6-2 record with a 1.73 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 56.2 innings of work.
He also competed with current Rebels Matt and Mike Snyder during summer ball with the Virginia Cardinals. Crouse is the 11th signee for the Rebels in the 2009 recruiting class.
