OXFORD, Miss. - Sitting only a game behind the Auburn Tigers for the final SEC Tournament spot with three to play, Ole Miss will travel to Starkville, Miss. this weekend for the final league series of the year as the face off against in-state rival Mississippi State. The Rebels and the Bulldogs will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and finish the series Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Rebels (23-27, 7-18 SEC) enter the weekend just one game behind the Tigers for the final SEC Tournament spot. The Bulldogs (24-26, 6-19 SEC) are also in the mix for the final conference tournament berth, as they sit just two games back of Auburn. The Tigers will host LSU in a three-game set this weekend. Ole Miss has advanced to the SEC Tournament each of the last three seasons.

Ole Miss continues to be led by junior All-American Lauren Grill, who paces the team with a .314 batting average, 10 home runs and 32 RBI. Grill is the player in the SEC to lead her team in every offensive category (hits, runs, doubles, triples, homers, RBI, batting, total bases, slugging, walks and on-base percentage) in conference play.

Freshman Corrine Doornberg is right on Grill’s heels, batting .308 in her first season as a Rebel and is fifth in the SEC among freshmen in batting average in league play.

In the circle, junior Becky Nye has been the staff ace, compiling 15 wins and a 2.78 ERA in 40 appearances. Nye has also recorded 139 strikeouts in 224.0 innings, while sophomore Lindsey Perry has posted six wins and 56 strikeouts in 93.2 innings.

Ole Miss knocked off MSU 8-3 in an early season non-conference contest in Madison, Miss. Grill smashed a pair of home runs and drove in three runs to help lead the Rebels over the Bulldogs. She was also named SEC Player of the Week for her efforts against MSU.

Junior Chelsea Bramlett leads MSU at the plate batting a league-best .485 in 50 games this season, while sophomore Ali Bainbridge and senior Sammie Jo Bailey have both knocked a team-best four home runs. Freshman Kaili Smith is also tied for the team lead with 30 RBI. In the circle, freshman Lindsey Dunlap has post a 15-14 record and recorded a team-high 146 strikeouts in 193.2 innings.
