Roebuck Shoots Low Round Of Tournament At Reunion

MADISON, Miss. Junior Will Roebuck shot the low round of the tournament by four with a 5-under 67 in the final round of the Reunion Intercollegiate Tuesday, to help lead the Ole Miss men’s golf team to a fourth place finish at Reunion Golf and Country Club.

Roebuck’s 67 is a career low and allowed him to move up in the standings to a tie for 30th after a rough first day.

After a difficult first day where scores were high, Ole Miss carded the low round of the tournament in the final round with an even par 288 to finish fourth at 311-306-288902.

“Even though the conditions were still tough today, our guys played a lot better,” head coach Ernest Ross said.  “We had a pep talk last night about eliminating big numbers, and they did a much better job.  I am proud of the comeback we made.  I hope this gives us some confidence going into the SEC Championships.  Congratulations to Will Roebuck for having his career best round by two shots in difficult conditions.”

Freshman Sean Dale tied for eighth with a 76-71-79226 for his fourth top 10 and sixth top 20 finish of the year.  Brandon native Jonathan Randolph moved into the top 20, tying for 14th with a 81-74-73228.  Freshman Joe David rebounded to shot an even par 72 in the final round for a total of 229 to tie for 18th.  He has seven top 20 finishes in nine tournaments this year.

LSU shot 297-299-293--889 to win the tournament, beating Arkansas (297-302-293892) by three shots.     Vanderbilt took third with a 306-296-298900.   North Florida rounded out the top five with a 313-302-302--917.

Arkansas’ Andrew Landry took medalist honors with a 72-72-71215.  Adam Hoffman of Vanderbilt finished as the runner-up with a 71-72-75218. 

The Rebels will head to Sea Island, Ga., in two weeks for the SEC Championships.
