Men's Golf Misses Out On Toldeo By One Place

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. The Ole Miss men’s golf team made a run at making the NCAA Finals, getting off to a hot start in the final round of the Central Regional Saturday, but after a 34-minute lightening delay, they were not able to hang on, finishing tied for sixth with a 296-299-290--885.

“We made a good run through the first 10 holes, and then play was stopped due to lightening,” head coach Ernest Ross said.  “We never seemed to get in a rhythm again.  I am not sure if we didn’t change from aggressor mode to protect mode.  We did our best and it was close, but it didn’t quite work out. I am proud of Jonathan Randolph for finishing tied for seventh.”

Randolph earned his highest finish in NCAA play, with the tie for seventh.  The Brandon, Miss., native shot 74-71-71216.  Freshman Joe David tied for 16^th in his first NCAA appearance with a 74-72-74220.  

Junior Will Roebuck was able to come back with a 3-under 69 in the final round after a tough first and second round to finish at 85-76-69230.  The Rebels had to count a 76 in the final round by redshirt-freshman Billy Brozovich, as senior Jesse Speirs finished with a 77.

UCLA (863), Washington (870), Georgia Tech (880), Ohio State (880) and Duke (881), as well as North Carolina State’s Matt Hill, advanced to the NCAA Finals in Toledo, Ohio.

The Rebels were making their third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance and eighth overall.
