COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Ole Miss freshman Devin Britton kept his winning streak alive, posting a three set victory over Virginia’s Dominic Inglot (seeded 9-16) to advance to the third round at the NCAA Singles Championship here Thursday.

Britton (25-9) broke the Cavalier’s No. 1 player at 3-3 in the first set and held to win 6-4.  Inglot, ranked No. 14 in the nation, gained a break in the second to win it 6-3.  As he has done several times lately, Britton, ranked No. 30 in the country, got on top in the third set and came away victorious 6-3 to move on and win his 10th straight.

He will face Bruno Rosa in the third round Friday.  Rosa upset the No. 8 seed in the opening round and then defeated Florida State’s Clint Bowles to advance to the third round.

The top-seeded doubles duo of Jonas Berg and Bram ten Berge were upset in the first round by Inglot and his partner, Michael Shabaz, in three sets.  Neither team was able to break each other in the first set, going to a tiebreaker.  Down 3-5 in the breaker, Berg and ten Berge (27-15) won four straight points to capture the opening set 7-6(5).

The Virginia team broke in the second game of the second set and went on to win it 6-3.  The third set appeared headed towards another tiebreaker, but at 4-4, Inglot and Shabaz broke Berg’s serve and then they held serve to win it 6-4.
