NCAA Oxford Regional Game 3 Postgame Notes

MISSOURI


Missouri improved to 42-43 all-time in NCAA Tournament play. Missouri advances to face the loser of Saturday's Game 4 between Ole Miss and Western Kentucky.

The Tigers are now 1-0 all-time against Monmouth after the teams' first ever meeting.

Junior RHP Kyle Gibson tallied 8 strikeouts to move his season total to 131. The 131 strikeouts this season moved him all the way from fourth place into a tie for first on the school's season K record (Max Scherzer, 131 in 2005).

Gibson also moved into a tie for second place on the career wins chart with 28 and sole possession of second place in career strikeouts with 304.

Senior 3B Kyle Mach produced the fifth 4-hit game of his career, tying a career high. He went 4-for-5 in the contestwith a pair of runs scored.

Missouri notched its fourth shutout victory of the season and first since a 1-0 win over Oklahoma State on March 30.

First base coach Tony Vitello was ejected in the top of the third inning by home plate umpire Pat Riley.

MONMOUTH


Monmouth fell to 0-8 all-time in NCAA Tournament play. The Hawks have gone 0-2 in each of their four NCAA Regional appearances in school history.

The Hawks are now 0-1 all-time against Missouri after the teams' first ever meeting.

Senior 2B Chris Collazo tied the school career hits record with a third-inning single, giving him 247 hits in his Monmouth career.

Monmouth was shut out for just the second time this year (3-0 at Quinnipiac on 5/8).
