Boone Announces Promotions For Hartwell, Johnson

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss Athletics Director Pete Boone announced Tuesday the promotion of two administrators within the Athletics Department. John Hartwell has been named Senior Executive Associate Athletics Director, and Lynnette Johnson has been named Executive Associate Athletics Director and Senior Women's Administrator (SWA). Hartwell was previously Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance, and Johnson was Senior Associate Athletics Director/SWA. "John and Lynnette have proven their abilities with the responsibilities entrusted to them over the past years," Boone said. "These new responsibilities will help make our operation more efficient. It will also give them added experience in their athletics administration careers." Hartwell's current major duties include managing the Business Office, Ticket Office and Marketing and Promotions, while his new duties will also include assuming the new role of Chief Operating Officer of the UMAA Foundation and working with the daily operations of football, men's basketball and baseball. The COO of the UMAA Foundation oversees priority seating, member services and daily administration. Johnson is currently serving in the capacity of Senior Women's Administrator and oversees 15 sports. She handles many other internal and external operations in the department, including committee work, gender equity and bid proposals for all SEC and NCAA Championship events. Her new duties will increase to oversight of Student Academic Services, Human Resources, Sports Camps, Inventory and the Rebel Ready Program. Hartwell is completing his seventh year of managing the finances for Ole Miss athletics. He also works closely with the athletics director regarding personnel, capital improvements and other major decisions that affect the department. A Mobile, Ala., native and 1987 graduate of The Citadel with a degree in business administration, Hartwell came to Ole Miss from Georgia State University, where he served as the Associate Athletics Director for Internal Affairs for five years. While at Georgia State, he also received his master's degree in sports administration. Johnson is in her 19th year with Ole Miss Athletics. She began as a member of the athletic training staff for nine years and in 1998 moved into athletics administration where she has been an Assistant and Associate Athletics Director before moving into her current role as Senior Associate Athletics Director in 2002. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native is a 1988 graduate of East Carolina University and a 1990 graduate of Ole Miss with a master's degree in education. Johnson became the first female head athletic trainer in the Southeastern Conference in 1997.
