Rebel Tracksters Fare Well At USA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. Several past, present and future Ole Miss track and field members competed in the second day of the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships Friday from Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.

 

Sophomore Lee Ellis Moore of Cordova, Tenn., advanced to the semifinals in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing 10th in the preliminaries with a time of 50.77, while competing against many of the best professional and amateur athletes in the United States. Moore will compete in the semifinals Saturday at 7:24 p.m.

 

In the USA Junior Track and Field Championships, Rebel Brian Knight (Miami, Fla.), who recently completed his freshman year, finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 7-0.50.  That mark eclipses his previous best of 6-10.75 and places him second on the all-time Ole Miss list.

 

Ole Miss signee Ricky Robertson (Hernando, Miss.) won the event with a jump of 7-01.75.  He is the No. 1 ranked high jumper in the nation and state high school champion.

 

Former standout Antwon Hicks, who holds the school record in the 110 meter hurdles, moved onto the semifinals in this event in the USA Track and Field Championships, winning his heat in a time of 13.41.  His semifinal race will take place Saturday at 5:40 p.m.
