CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. Ole Miss women’s golfers Ashley Lance, Haley Millsap and Jillian Brodd have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team as announced by the association Wednesday.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent (Division I) of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

Lance, Millsap and Brodd were among 21 student-athletes from the Southeastern Conference named to the team.

“We are very proud of our team for the dedication that they have shown in their academics this year,” head coach Michele Drinkard said. “As a team we work relentlessly on our preparation not only on the golf course but in the classroom as well. We are especially proud of Ashley, Jillian and Haley for being recognized on the NGCA All-American Scholar team. This honor exemplifies their commitment to excellence.”

Millsap, a native of Pace, Fla., just completed her freshman year and posted a 3.76 grade point average in Liberal Arts, while also finishing second on the team in stroke average.   Lance, who hails from Franklin, Tenn., boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.75 in Business, and Brodd, of Knoxville, Tenn., owns a 3.50 GPA in Business.

All three helped lead the Rebels to the program’s fifth NCAA appearance, their first tournament title since 2004 and five top-five finishes.  In addition, they helped the team capture the Chancellor’s Cup for the team with the highest GPA among all varsity sports.
