Ole Miss Collecting Canned Goods As Part Of SEC Drive

As part of the SEC "Together We Can" food drive program which runs Sept. 18-27, Ole Miss is kicking off its local efforts Thursday at 7 p.m. at Houston Nutt's weekly radio show, RebTalk, at The Lyric off the Oxford Square. Athletics department representatives will be on hand to accept cash contributions.
Led by Ole Miss' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Rebel student-atheletes and staff members will be at various Oxford locations during the 10-day drive collecting either money or canned food donations. Among these opportunities, cans will at the volleyball matches Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gillom Sports Center.
The Oxford Pantry is suggesting cooking oil, assorted soups, canned meats, canned vegetables .but all canned foods will be accepted.
Last year, SEC-member schools collected approximately 150,000 pounds of donated food items through "Together We Can". Ole Miss individually collected around 6,000 pounds, but has a new goal of 10,000 pounds for this year's food drive.

Thursday, September 17, 7 - 8 p.m.: "Bring a Buck" Night at RebTalk - Houston Nutt's call-in show at The Lyric, downtown Oxford.
Friday, September 18, 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.: Athletics Staff Canned Food Drive, IPF Banquet Room.
Friday, September 18, 7 p.m.: Ole Miss Voleyball vs. Florida, Gillom Sports Center.
Saturday, September 20, 1:30 p.m.: Ole Miss Voleyball vs. Florida, Gillom Sports Center.
Monday-Thursday, September 21-24, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Campus-Wide Canned Food Drive.
Tuesday, September 22, 4 - 7 p.m.: Wal-Mart, Kroger and Larson's Big Star.
Friday, September 25, 6 - 7 p.m.: Ole Miss Soccer vs. Alabama- Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
Sunday, September 27, 1 - 2 p.m.: Ole Miss Soccer vs. Auburn- Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
