Ole Miss Athletics Hosts Faculty Breakfast

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Athletics department recently showed its appreciation for the University's faculty by a hosting a breakfast for many of its faculty members.
"We want them to know that we view academics as a priority, and that our goal is to see our student-athletes earn an Ole Miss degree," said Karen Schiferl, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academic Support. "With their help, we are all on the same team."Many Ole Miss student-athletes, coaches and staff joined the faculty for the meal that was held last Wednesday and provided by Chick-fil-A.
Featured speakers at the event were Faculty-Athletics Representaive Ron Rychlak, Senior Executive Associate A.D. John Hartwell, Executive Associate A.D. Lynnette Johnson and Head Football Coach Houston Nutt.
Faculty members received door prices such as Rebel football t-shirts and hats. Two faculty members, Joan Wylie from the English Department and Joel Kuszmaul from the Geology Department, were selected as the winners of footballs autographed by Coach Nutt.
"It was a great opportunity to get the semester and the football season off to a good start," Schiferl said.
Wednesday's breakfast marked the first fall faculty appreciation, as the events have generally taken place during the spring.
