Cross Country To Compete In Greater Louisville Classic

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss cross country season is heating up as the Rebels head into their third meet of the season this Saturday.
Senior Barnabas Kirui and the Rebels will be traveling to the Greater Louisville Classic this Saturday in Louisville, Ky. The meet is put on by the University of Louisville and will take place at the E.P. `Tom' Sawyer State Park. The men's 8K race starts at 8:30 a.m. CT and is followed by the women's 5K race at 9:15 a.m. CT.
The Rebel men's team is coming off solid second-place finishes at the Arkansas Tech Twilight Run and the Crimson Classic. The women's team has placed second and sixth in those first two meets of the season.
Kirui, the 2009 SEC Cross Country Champion, has put up impressive results so far this season with a victory at the Arkansas Tech Twilight Run and a second-place finish at the Crimson Classic, after which he was named the SEC Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
The Rebel men are ranked No. 6 in this week's South Region rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Martin Kirui, Kipchirchir Kiptoo and Chad Berry have also had strong showings in the first two meets.
Logan Waites has been the top Ole Miss finisher on the women's side in both previous meets, including her second-place result at Arkansas Tech.
