OXFORD, Miss. - People from around the Oxford and Ole Miss community, and even around the nation, pulled together recently to participate in the "Dash for Hash" - a 5K run on the campus of the University of Mississippi to raise money for former Rebel baseball player Taylor Hashman.

Hashman suffered an injury on the weekend of July 31 that put in him in critical condition at The MED in Memphis for an extended period of time. He has recently returned home with his family to Naples, Fla., where he continues to undergo treatment and rehab for his injuries.

The run was designed to raise money for the Hashman family to offset the costs of medical treatment incurred by the injury.

More than 500 people participated in the fundraiser through donations or competing in the race that looped through campus.

"The support of the Rebel nation and all of the friends and family across the country has been amazing," Hashman said. "Words can't describe how blessed and thankful I am to have so many people remembering me and my family in their thoughts and prayers throughout this time."

"It was a great event and a great turnout," said Ole Miss head baseball coach Mike Bianco. "To have more than 500 people participate was overwhelming. I know Taylor and his family are appreciative. We're thankful so many people were involved in the event that was spearheaded by Ella Gentry and Fuller Smith."

People can continue to make donations to the fund established by the Diamond Girls at Regions Bank locations in Oxford, Jackson or Memphis, or mail it to Regions Bank, Michael Leonard c/o Taylor Hashman Help Fund, 50 N. Front Street., Suite 100, Memphis, TN, 38103.
