OXFORD, Miss. - With a third NCAA Tournament appearance over the past five seasons and the volleyball program's first All-American added to its annals in 2010, Ole Miss has taken steps to keep head coach Joe Getzin at the helm of the Rebel program, the athletics department announced on Thursday.

Getzin and Ole Miss agreed to a four-year contract extension on the heels of a fourth-place finish in the overall Southeastern Conference standings and a second place finish in the SEC Western Division as the Rebels went 19-11 on the year. Ole Miss advanced to the NCAA Tournament, falling to North Carolina in the first round, but still accomplished a series of firsts for the program.

The extension is pending the approval of the Board of Trustees, State Institutions of Higher Learning.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity that the administration has given us here at Ole Miss," Getzin said. "We have great support from Pete Boone and Lynnette Johnson and their vision of how we continue to move forward and grow this program. I'm looking forward to many more years to come. This program continues to grow and improve, and I'm looking forward to taking us to that next step."

"Joe has built a successful program on and off the court," said Lynnette Johnson, Executive Associate Athletics Director and SWA. "We are very excited about the future."

Ole Miss produced its first All-American in program history when junior Regina Thomas was selected to the third team by the AVCA on Wednesday. She also was the first Rebel to garner All-SEC first team honors since the 1990 season as she helped Ole Miss make a run to the post-season under the direction of Getzin.

The Rebels opened the 2010 season strong, claiming tournament titles at the Rice Invitational and the Magnolia Invitational before opening Southeastern Conference play. Ole Miss rattled off seven consecutive wins before falling on the road at No. 3 Florida, but resumed their winning ways with another seven match win streak that included a 3-0 shutout of No. 12 LSU in Oxford in a nationally televised match.

For the year, the Rebels posted season sweeps over conference foes Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Mississippi State and South Carolina.
