The Rebels open the 2010 season with a three-game home series against the Warhawks of Louisiana-Monroe beginning Friday, February 19 at 3 p.m. and continuing Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and concluding on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
NEXT WEEK FOR THE REBELS:
Ole Miss continues its season opening homestand with a mid-week contest against Arkansas State on Tuesday afternoon beforing kicking off a three-game set with Oakland over the weekend. It is part of a stretch of eight straight home games to open the season for the 17th-ranked Rebels.

OM - Drew Pomeranz, Jr., LHP
NOTING POMERANZ: Pomeranz enters the season as the Friday night starter after a successful sophomore campaign. The left-hander posted an 8-4 record with a 3.40 ERA and turned in two complete-game victories. He struck out a career-high 16 against Western Kentucky in the NCAA Oxford Regional and tallied 124 strikeouts on the season, bringing his career total to 205 strikeouts. The southpaw is a perseason All-America selection and has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List.
SATURDAY, 2:30 P.M.

OM - Aaron Barrett, Sr., RHP
NOTING BARRETT: Barrett returns to the starting lineup in 2010 as the Saturday starter after serving in the weekend rotation as a junior to start the 2009 season. The right-hander made 14 appearances, including four starts, a year ago and posted an 0-1 record with the lone loss coming against TCU in Oxford. He worked 30.0 total innings and struck out 33 batters while walking only 13 on the year.

OM - Trent Rothlin, Jr., RHP
NOTING ROTHLIN: Junior college transfer Trent Rothlin opens the season as the Sunday starter for the Rebels after a freshman season at Clemson and a solid sophomore season at Walters State Community College. The transfer posted a 7-1 record last season at Walters State with a 4.32 ERA as he made 13 appearances on the year. He struck out 65 batters in 58.1 innings of work and walked only 29 batters on the season.
REBELS IN THE RANKINGS:
For the sixth straight season Ole Miss opened the year ranked in the preseason polls. Currently, the Rebels are ranked as high as 17th (Baseball America) and appear in the top 25 of all of the major college baseball polls.
OPENING DAY UNDER BIANCO:
The Rebels have posted a perfect record on opening day under head coach Mike Bianco. The Rebels are 9-0 in opening day games going back to the 2001 season. The streak doesn't end there, as Ole Miss has won 28 season openers in a row. The Rebels last dropped the first game of the season in 1981 when Ole Miss fell to Livingston 8-6.
OLE MISS VS. NON-CONFERENCE FOES UNDER BIANCO:
Ole Miss has posted an impressive non-conference record over the course of the past nine seasons under head coach Mike Bianco. Since Bianco's arrival in Oxford in 2001, the Rebels have posted a 189-65-1 (.743 win percentage) mark in non-conference foes. Just a year ago, the Rebels were 24-11 in non-conference games, posting a .686 win percentage.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME:
The home field has been kind to the Rebels during Bianco's tenure as Ole Miss has posted a 237-85-1 record within the friendly confines of O-U Stadium/Swayze Field for a (.735 winning percentage) at home.
PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA:
Junior southpaw Drew Pomeranz caught the eye of several organizations after his performance last season. Both Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America named the left-hander to their preseason All-America teams earlier this year.
GOLDEN SPIKES WATCH LIST:
Pomeranz also has caught the eye of those compiling watch lists for awards. The junior was named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List heading into the 2010 season. The Golden Spikes Award is presented annually to the top collegiate baseball player in the nation.
