Rebels Defeated At Arkansas 67-59

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Elizabeth Robertson scored 20 points, but it wasn't enough as Ole Miss dropped a 67-59 decision to Arkansas Thursday night from Bud Walton Arena.

Robertson hit six three-pointers and pulled down seven rebound for the Rebels. Kayla Melson finished with 14 points and four assists, while Shantell Black added 13 points and five assists.

Ashley Daniels totaled 16 points and eight rebounds and finished with nine points over her season average. Lyndsay Harris also scored 16 points and collected five assists.

Charity Ford added 15 points and four rebounds.

Arkansas (12-14, 4-9 SEC) took its largest lead of the game at 57-47 with 8:21 left in the second half when Ricketts hit a jumper just outside the free throw line.

Ole Miss (15-11, 6-7 SEC) answered with a 7-0 run capped by a three-pointer from Black to crawl within three points with just under six minutes on the clock.

Daniels responded with a jumper on the other end to stop the Ole Miss run and up the Arkansas lead to five points. Ford put the Razorbacks ahead by seven points three possessions later with another mid-range jumper.

Black hit another three-pointer to pull Ole Miss within four at 61-57 with 3:52 left to play. The Rebels appeared to have a stop on the ensuing possession as C'eira Ricketts missed a uncontested layup, but Sarah Watkins snuck through the lane and corralled the offensive rebound through three Rebel players.

The Razorbacks capitalized on the second chance opportunity as Ford hit a three-pointer from the wing to give Arkansas a 64-57 edge.

Melson answered with a layup with just under three minutes to leave Ole Miss trailing by five points at 64-59, but the Rebels shot 0-for-6 over the final 2:57.

Arkansas hit three free throws down the stretch to claim its third straight victory.

Ole Miss returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Rebels host No. 20 Vanderbilt from Tad Smith Coliseum.
