2/28/2010 | Women's Golf
OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team is set to tee off the spring season Monday at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge in Valdosta, Ga. Kennesaw State and Kentucky are co-hosts of the two-day event at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
The 18-team field is a strong one, with five teams in the top 25, led by No. 12 Georgia. Other top teams include No. 14 Tennessee, No. 15 Virginia, No. 16 Florida and No. 26 South Carolina.
The Rebels will be led by sophomore Haley Millsap and senior Sara Grantham. Grantham leads the team with one top five and two top 10 finishes in the fall. Joining them will be sophomore Ashley Lance, junior Jillian Brodd, and making her debut, transfer Natalie Gleadall. Gleadall joined the team in January after transferring from Nebraska.
"The spring season is here, and we are excited to get started. It's neat to be in Valdosta, Ga., for our first tournament, home to our very own Dori Carter (two-time All-American) who is rolling out the red carpet for us this week," head coach Michele Drinkard said. "We have had great energy in our preparation for our spring tournament schedule. The entire team has worked diligently, and Coach Clinton (strength and conditioning) has prepared us physically in the weight room as well. We are looking to get off to a great start on Monday."
Play begins on Monday with 36 holes of golf, followed by 18 holes to conclude the tournament on Tuesday.
