OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Student Programming Board are sponsoring "Bring a Blanket, Be a Rebel" and will show the Golden Globe-winning film The Blind Side Friday at 7 p.m. in the Indoor Practice Facility.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and attendees can enter through the doors on the east-side of the building. Admission to the event is free, but a $2 donation will be accepted to help support the SAAC's philanthropy program "Rebel Re-Runs," which helps send used shoes to countries in Africa.
The Blind Side is based on the true-story of Rebels' own Michael Oher and his relationship with Ole Miss alumni Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy and their family. The film is currently nominated for two Academy Awards including "Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role" and "Best Motion Picture." To date, The Blind Side is the highest grossing football movie and sports drama of all time in the United States.
This event is open to all Ole Miss students, faculty, staff and their families. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter raffles for various Rebels memorabilia that includes signed posters, balls, and other athletics gear. This event will provide attendees with the chance to meet and greet athletes from various Ole Miss sports teams while watching one of the fall's biggest films.
Free pizza and drinks will be sponsored by Papa John's Pizza and Coke Zero. EA Sports will be set up as well letting attendees try out the newest sports games on various platforms.
