Robertson Sets School Record At Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Ole Miss track and field team turned in 11 NCAA regional marks and one school record Saturday afternoon from the Rhodes Invitational.

Freshman jumper Ricky Robertson set a new school record, won the high jump and posted an NCAA regional mark with a height of 7-02.50. His new mark surpassed the previous school record of 7-01.50 set by Marcus Jones in 1999. Robertson also took second in the long jump with a distance of 22-05.25.

Sophomore Brian Knight finished second in the high jump and turned in the third-highest mark in school history with an NCAA regional height of 7-00.50.

Also in field events, senior Colin Moleton won the javelin throw with an NCAA regional mark of 220-11.00. Fellow senior Bryce Willen followed in second place with an NCAA regional distance of 217-09.00.

Freshman sprinter Mike Granger turned in an NCAA regional time of 10.55 in the 100 meters en route to earning the individual title.

Lee Ellis Moore won the 400 meter hurdles and posted an NCAA regional time of 52.29. Sophomore Carson Blanks took second place in the event with a time of 53.10.

Middle distance runner Barnabas Kirui won the 800 meters following a time of 1:54.87, while Chad Berry captured the title in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:58.04.

On the women's side, junior sprinter LaJada Baldwin won the 100 meters after racing to an NCAA regional time of 11.75. Baldwin also took the crown in the 200 meters with an NCAA regional time of 23.84.

In the 400 meters, Sofie Persson posted an NCAA regional time of 53.42 en route to claiming the individual title. Her mark was also the fourth-fastest in school history.

The Ole Miss 4x100 meter relay team finished in first place with an NCAA regional time of 45.42.

In field events, sophomore Aria Gaines won the triple jump with a distance of 39-01.75.

Senior thrower Davina Orieukwu took third place in the discus throw and recorded a mark of 145-11.00 to finish with the third-furthest mark in school history. She also placed third in the shot put with a distance of 46-08.25.

Junior Juliana Smith won the hammer throw with an NCAA regional distance of 186-00.00.

Freshman Neal Tisher turned in the second-highest mark in school history in the pole vault with a height of 11-05.25 en route to taking the individual title.

Ole Miss returns to action March 25-28 when the Rebels travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take part in the Alabama Relays.
