Women's Golf To Host Rebel Intercollegiate

OXFORD, Miss. -- The Ole Miss women's golf team will play host to 20 teams from across the country this weekend in the second annual Rebel Intercollegiate April 2-4.
The 54-hole tournament will be held at the Ole Miss Golf course and will highlight some of the top teams in the country.
The field has expanded from 14 teams last year to 20. Texas A&M comes in ranked No. 18 in Golfweek, Tulane enters the tournament ranked No. 27 and the next two teams, Coastal Carolina and Ole Miss, are ranked at No. 51 and No. 52. Several teams from the Big 12 are in the field, including, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri, while Wisconsin represents the Big 10.
The Rebels may not be the highest ranked team in the tournament, but they do feel that playing on their home course will give them a slight advantage.
"We are excited to showcase the Ole Miss Golf Course and play at home in front of family and friends," head coach Michele Drinkard said.
"It's always nice to play on a course that you're familiar with. This will give us great momentum in preparation for the SEC Championship in two weeks. The weather is going to be great, and we are looking forward to closing out the regular season on a good note."
The Rebels are led by senior Sara Grantham. Joining Grantham will be freshman Haley Sanders, junior Jillian Brodd, and sophomores Haley Millsap and Natalie Gleadall. Sophomore Ashley Lance will compete in the tournament as an individual.
Tulane won last year's inaugural event, while former Rebel All-American Dori Carter captured medalist honors in a playoff.
Friday and Saturday's rounds begin at 8:00 a.m. from the No. 1 and 10 tees. Sunday's round will be a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Rebels will begin teeing off at 8:00 a.m. Friday from No. 1.
