OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss men's golfer Jonathan Randolph has been named the SEC Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Randolph captured his third career tournament title, third of the year and the second of the spring season, winning the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational, March 19-21, at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
The Brandon, Miss., native shot a five-under-par 211 to tie with two other players, but won medalist honors on the first playoff hole.
Randolph became the second Rebel to win three tournaments in a season, joining All-American Dave Peege, who did it in 1984. This spring, Randolph has two firsts, a second and a third place finish. In nine total tournaments this season, he has six top five finishes and seven top 10 placements.
Going into the next tournament, Randolph leads the SEC with a 70.52 stroke average and is ranked seventh in the latest Golfweek rankings and 10th by Golfstat.
Randolph has eight rounds in the 60s this season with 20 at or under par.
One of 25 golfers named to the Ben Hogan Award Watch List, he was named the Golfweek Player of the Week for March 22, his third such honor of the year.
Randolph and his teammates will host the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate April 5-6 at Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison, Miss.
