Easley Named To SEC Community Service Team

3/9/2010 | Women's Basketball

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss junior guard Alliesha Easley has been recognized for her outstanding efforts off the court and was named to the SEC Women's Basketball Community Service Team, the league office announced Tuesday.

A native of Cordova, Tenn., Easley has participated in Reading with the Rebels, a program which helps promote reading to area elementary students. In addition, Easley joined her teammates in several community service projects during the season, which included donating and collecting money for Thanksgiving food baskets, adopting a family during the Christmas holidays and participating in shoe and canned food drives.

Easley is also a student director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Ole Miss. In this capacity, Easley has participated in several speaking arrangements at youth FCA events in the Oxford area.

A broadcast journalism major, Easley served as the color commentator on each of the Ole Miss radio broadcasts after suffering a season-ending knee injury in the preseason.

This marks the 12th year for the SEC Community Service Team for women's basketball as well as for men's basketball. All 20 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
