Two Rebels 1-Under At SEC Championship

ST. SIMON'S ISLAND, Ga. -- Junior Jonathan Randolph and sophomore Billy Brozovich led the Ole Miss men's golf team on day one of the SEC Championship, shooting a 1-under 69 to tie for fourth at the Sea Island Seaside Course.
Randolph, who leads the SEC in stroke average, had five birdies on the day including two of his last four holes. Brozovich, who was pretty consistent all day, also birdied two his last four holes. Both are just two back of individual leader Bryden Macpherson (Georgia).
The rest of the team struggled on the par 70, 6,991 yard course. The Rebels shot 288 as a team and are in 10th. However, they are only six shots out of the top five, and head coach Ernest Ross is confident the team can make a move on Saturday.
"We started poorly," head coach Ernest Ross said. The weather was perfect, and we have practiced hard. Maybe we were a little tight. We struggled with some errant tee shots, and this course can be very penalizing to crooked shots. I am proud that we shot our final nine holes in 4-under par. We worked on error correction after the round, and we will be hungry for tomorrow."
Arkansas shot 2-under 278 and leads Auburn (280) and Florida (280) by two. South Carolina and Mississippi State are tied for fourth at 282.
