Ole Miss Conducting Shoe Drive Saturday

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss student-athletes will be collecting shoes for underprivileged youth in Haiti and Kenya Saturday at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex for the Mississippi Open. The all day event begins at 10 a.m. CT.
Fans are asked to donate gently used running shoes, cleats and spikes as part of the "Rebel Reruns" program. Smaller sizes are needed, but all shoes are greatly appreciated. Visiting track teams have also been asked to bring shoes to the meet.
The Ole Miss Student-Athlete Advisory Council established the "Rebel Reruns" service project in 2008, and with the help of the fans, Ole Miss athletes and visiting teams, SAAC has sent more than 325 pairs of shoes to Kenya over the past two years.
Ole Miss SAAC has partnered with FedEx to assist with shipping the shoes. For more information on the program, contact Derek Horne at 662-915-5677 or dhorne@olemiss.edu.
