5/21/2010 | Track and Field

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss track and field head coach Joe Walker announced Friday that sprinter Bradley Shields has signed a national letter of intent to compete for the Rebels next season.

A native of Florence, Miss., by way of Florence High School, Shields turned in a time of 10.40 in the 100 meters at the Mississippi 4A State Championships to set a school record in the event. He also holds the school record in the 4x100 meter relay after his team posted a time of 43.71.

Shields also posted a time of 10.46 in the 100 meters at the Mississippi 4A South State Meet.

"We are extremely excited to have signed Bradley," Walker said. "In all my years of watching Mississippi high school sprinters, he is one of the most talented to come through in a while. He has only been running track for a couple of years and his future should be even brighter than what he accomplished in high school. We are excited to have him join current Ole Miss sprinters Mike Granger and Jonathan Juin on what will now be one of the top sprint squads in the U.S."
