Seven Track And Field Rebels Advance To Oregon

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Seven Ole Miss track and field athletes have advanced to next month's NCAA Championships in their respective events after two days of the NCAA Preliminary Round-East from Irwin Bell Track.

Ole Miss sophomore jumper Caleb Lee qualified for the next round of the long jump by earning a 12th place finish in the preliminaries following a distance of 24-09.25.

Freshman Ricky Robertson also earned a spot in the next round in the high jump after turning in a first place finish in the preliminaries after recording a height of 7-01.00. Sophomore Brian Knight finished in fifth place with a height of 7-01.00 and will also take part in the next round in Eugene, Ore.

Senior Colin Moleton punched his ticket to Oregon after posting a third place finish in the javelin throw preliminaries with a distance of 225-02.00.

Freshman sprinter Mike Granger finished in eighth place in the 100 meter preliminaries and earned a spot in the next round following a time of 10.30. The Hickory, Miss., native went on to turn in a time of 10.34 and a 13th place finish in the quarterfinals to earn a spot in the semifinals.

Fellow sophomore Carson Blanks qualified for the quarterfinals in the 400 meter hurdles after posting a fourth place finish in the preliminaries with a time of 50.67. Blanks bested his time in the quarterfinals, finished in fourth place and secured a spot in the semifinals with a time of 50.26 to become the second-fastest hurdler in school history.

On the women's side, freshman Neal Tisher advanced to the next round of the pole vault after taking second place in the preliminaries with a height of 12-09.50, making her the second-highest pole vaulter in school history.

Day three of the NCAA Preliminary Round-East begins Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. (CT) with the men's discus throw.
